The Parents and Friends held their AGM on Wednesday night and discussed the Friends and Family Fun Night on October the 4th. This promises to be a variety of activities including barbeque, craft stalls and a bucking bronco. In the lead up to this event we are still selling our raffle tickets and would encourage anyone with tickets to sell or return them to the Academy. We need as many parents as possible to come along and help please and we are appealing for items in the School Newsletter to support the games. Bottles, chocolate, Pringles and cakes on the day are all needed. It would be lovely to have more parents join our Parents and Friends group and share in this opportunity to support the Academy.

We will be having a non uniform day on this day and half the proceeds will go to the Macmillan Cancer Care. There will be a coffee morning next week on Thursday, organised by Year 8 pupils to share in the Macmillan Cancer Coffee morning. Assembly on Monday this week will explain the value of this charity and the work they do for the community.

Awards from the English department have been given to those who pupils who submitted the best book review. It has been a great exercise to produce such thoughtful writing and many of them are on display in the top corridor.

Next week there will be European studies in some lessons to coincide with the European day of Languages on Friday. Pupils have be asked to dress up in an appropriate costume related to a country and have a phrase of greeting ready to use. There will a special assembly on Friday and prizes for the best costumes. So let’s be creative!
Finally thanks to those of you who have volunteered to be governors for our Academy. We have 4 parents who have ocme forward so we will be running an election for the vacant post. Please look our for your voting form.
